The Child:

Sprinkled With Hope will support young people to identify and take part in leisure, volunteering, education, training and employment and other activities and opportunities aimed at improving young people’s self-esteem, confidence and economic well-being.

Key Principles underpinning Preparation for Independence and the Transition to Adulthood Life Skills Work

  • Preparation for independence and the transition to adulthood programmes will focus on the strengths of young people and progress at a pace that suits the young person and will identify the timescale that is required to make a successful transition to adulthood.
  • Preparation for independence will include the views of young people to enhance and improve the life chances of young people in, and leaving care.
  • Preparation for independence is not a distinct phase; small tasks and steps will be undertaken from the point of being ‘looked after’.
  • Appropriate care planning, pathway planning and leaving care services are based on robust assessments, knowledge of available services and partnership approaches.
  • Individual preparation for independence programmes, leaving care assessments and pathway plans while being flexible, will highlight the tasks that need to be achieved and the role that Sprinkled With Hope, social workers, leaving care personal advisers, family members, partner agencies, such as education, health, housing, schools and colleges will play.
  • Programmes will highlight tasks and expectations of young people and allow sufficient time to work at the young person’s pace.
  • A broad range of tools, resources and methods for working with young people will be available to enable a creative and flexible approach.
  • Preparation for Independence programmes will address issues of health and development, education, training and employment, practical and emotional skills, placement and accommodation needs, relationships, community organisations and support networks and financial and budgeting skills

We offer therapeutic support to all young people in our care and believe this is key to ensuring successful outcomes are achieved not only during the time they spend with us, but, to ensure they have the right set of coping strategies to live a full and productive life once they move on to semi independence. Our experienced team can support young people with complex needs such as drug and alcohol misuse, CSE, bereavement, SEN, gangs and offending. Through mentoring, counselling, therapy and structured programmes to plan a way forward together we ensure that any young person placed with Sprinkled With Hope will leave a more rounded individual than when they arrived. Personal training or alternative fitness or exercise classes and sporting activities are included as part of our package to encourage participation in healthy activities by our young people.

Every young persons hobbies and cultural needs will be discussed and met where possible.

For the young people in our homes, they can also expect fun activities and a chance to build worthwhile and life-long relationships with those living and working in the homes.

Our aims:

  • To provide a safe and homely environment where young people can be supported and challenged to develop the skills they need to live a full and happy life while making a positive contribution to society.
  • To be the provider of choice for local authorities
  • To be able to evidence the outcomes we achieve for young people
  • To deliver a best in class provision in terms of physical accommodation and supporting development through emotional resilience and educational achievement
